Iara prepares herself for her next big adventure–her first convention with her owner!
Since Iara is an anthropomorphic dinosaur, she feels she will fit right in.
The first creature she runs into strikes a menacing pose. She decides to keep a safe distance…
…and this creature was too tired for words. She begins to feel out of her element…
…until she finds some of her relatives! Two fellow raptors and a friendly Cryolophosaurus.
Of course, the local mammals all decide she is too cute to pass up posing with.
In one hallway, Iara finds two Dutch Angel Dragons, a species she has never encountered before in the wild. Truly, a rare opportunity!
One of the Dutch Angel Dragons, a brown female named Telephone, takes an instant liking to Iara. Iara expects to be eaten…
…and instead finds herself atop Telephone’s head! Astounding!
Surely, this is the most strange beast Iara had ever seen. She had to pose with it.
Iara endured many big hugs and jaws, but she had a great time at the convention!
She made many friends, and she hopes to see more soon!
All of these images were taken at Califur in 2017.
Iara wishes everyone a happy Easter!
Iara starts off her morning with a warm cup of tea. She knows she is in for another adventure!
She calls ahead on her Bananaphone V8. She knows Bubblefest can be a busy time at the Discovery Cube OC, even for her dinosaur relatives! Fortunately for her owner, the tickets haven’t sold out.
The interior of the Discovery Cube was filled with children and tons of hands on exhibits. Iara preferred the signage right away.
Iara was relieved to see one of her relatives at the Discovery Cube…
…only to see he was wasting away to bare bones. At least he still was able to digest his food.
Watching her giant herbivore friend eat constantly made Iara hungry. “There must be something to eat around here!” Iara complained to another of her kin. Alas, she was reduced to bare bones. “I guess you’re on the paleo diet,” she grumbled.
Iara made her way back inside the Discovery Cube. She found the Museum Store. A chubby Tyrannosaurus rex was guarding his relatives. “Maybe you know where I can get something to eat…?” Iara asked hopefully as she sat by the group of dinosaurs.
The T.rex’s answer was…
After doing some digging, Iara discovered a picture of her relatives staring down dinner. She sighed. It was time for her to go home…the bubbles were beautiful, but were not edible.
Thankfully, Iara was able to share dinner with her owner. It was a nice end to a long day out!
Iara can’t wait to have a new adventure!
Iara decides to relax today with some boba tea.
Iara hopes you spent it with those you love and who love you in return ❤
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy Festivus for the rest of us! Iara will return next year with more adventures! 🙂
Iara enjoys Fall afternoons reading some books at her local library. She will make more posts soon!
Iara decided to stop by one of her favorite places…and discovered Dino Fest!
Iara becomes acquainted with a model of what she used to look like, all the way back in the 1990s. She’s glad she’s gotten a makeover!
Iara saw some books and drawings about dinosaurs…
…and she made some new friends, too. They are all paleontologists and paleo artists!
The best way for Iara to end the day was to ride home in style!
She can’t wait for her next adventure!

…pterosaurs, that is! Check them out for yourself: http://www.nhm.org/pterosaurs/
Iara wonders where she is off to today!
She sits patiently on the bus, after having paid her fare.
She looks out the window as she continues her trip via train. She’s already mastered using two forms of public transit, and without an opposable thumb to boot!
Iara finally arrives at her destination–Santa Monica pier!
Iara is starving after her long trip, so she decides to stop by the coffee shop and have some cake…by the ocean.
Iara decides to try riding the carousel!
She selects her steed and rides off into the proverbial sunset!–which is actually just in a circle, but she doesn’t mind.
As Iara makes her way down the pier, she sees this sign. She instantly regrets eating that cake earlier in the day.
Iara returns to the train to begin her trip home. She learns it is the first time in several decades the train made its way to the beach. She is glad she went despite how busy it was!
Iara enjoys the sunset as she returns home at last.
